Private Surgery

Surgical waitlists in Ontario and other provinces in Canada can be very extensive, creating additional stress on patients and their families who are already facing challenging health situations. Delaying much-needed treatment can lead to prolonging pain, disability, and time away from work or sport. These delays can allow injuries or degenerative conditions to worsen, making recovery longer and more difficult. Private surgical options offer a timely alternative, allowing patients to access expert care quickly and without months of waiting. By addressing the problem early, patients can often achieve faster recovery, improved outcomes, and a lower risk of complications. Early surgical intervention can help preserve joint and tissue health, restore function, and prevent the decline in quality of life that often comes with delayed care. Choosing private surgery means getting back to work, sport, and the activities you love sooner. It’s an investment in your health, your independence, and your future—so you can stop waiting and start living.

In office needle arthroscopy

Needle arthroscopy, also known as a “nanoscope”, is a power diagnostic tool that can be used to obtain an instant and accurate diagnosis of one’s joint pain. The cutting-edge technology uses a tiny camera attached to the end of a needle that can be inserted into a knee to have full visualization of the internal structures of the knee to assess for any damage. The procedure is done in an office setting, outside of the hospital, with the patient fully awake. No incision is needed, since the camera is the same size as a needle, making it an extremely comfortable procedure that only takes 20-30 minutes. Patients are able to walk immediately after the procedure with minimal discomfort. By having this procedure done, you often can avoid having to go into a hospital to get an MRI, which can take several months to get. The “nanoscope” is also a superior diagnostic tool as it allows “real-time, dynamic” visualization of the structures in the knee, that even the patient can watch while it’s happening. Alternatively, you can sit back, relax, and watch a movie until the procedure is done! Dr. Abouali was the first physician in Canada to perform this procedure, and has been interviewed by the Globe and Mail on this revolutionary advancement.
