How do I get an appointment to be seen?

Have your family doctor or other physician fax a referral to our central booking office. Our fax number is 416-546-7111. If you do not have a family doctor, please email us at info@torontosportsdoc.com

Does Dr. Abouali only see athletes?

Dr. Abouali believes that there is an athlete in all of us! He not only treats professional athletes, but also individuals of all ages with a wide variety of athletic and non-athletic orthopaedic injuries.

How do I know if I need surgery?

Not all joint problems or injuries need surgery. Dr. Abouali will carefully assess and examine your injury to determine the best treatment available. Together, you and him will decide what is best for you!

What surgeries does Dr. Abouali perform?

Dr. Abouali specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery (camera surgery). These procedures allow for quicker healing, and eliminate the need to stay in hospital overnight. For a list of common procedures, please click on the SERVICES tab.

How long does it take to get an appointment?

Our goal is to have you seen in consultation as soon as possible. Your initial assessment will usually take place within 1-4 weeks. Urgent surgical consultations will be prioritized.

What is the process after surgery?

The healing process after surgery often requires physiotherapy and exercises to enhance your recovery and function. Dr. Abouali will follow you regularly until full healing has occurred.

What if I have questions after my surgery?

Having surgery can feel overwhelming at times. Dr. Abouali will guide you through all steps of the recovery process. In addition to having our contact information, you will be provided with instructions and protocols on how to safely rehabilitate.

If surgery is not required, what else can I do?

Many orthopedic injuries can be treated equally well, if not better, with non-surgical measures. Often, this will include a structured program with a physiotherapist, use of customized bracing, or injections to supplement your healing. Dr. A will be happy to give his recommendations to you.

Am I a candidate for regenerative medicine (orthobiologics)?

Many patients have the demand to remain active and healthy, but are not quite ready for surgery. New advances in regenerative medicine, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or autologous protein solution (nSTRIDE) can provide non-surgical solutions for certain injuries or diseases.
